Andrew Harper ~ The Ultimate Resource for the Luxury Traveler

Andalucia is a region of pure romance, distinctive and authentically charming. Farmlands, Roman ruins, sandy coastline and tree-lined sierras combine, making it an interesting and beautiful base in which to explore and relax on a memorable and lavish Spanish luxury villa vacation.

Andalucia’s capital is Seville, the fourth largest city in Spain. Seville’s rich heritage is evidenced by the Moorish Giralda and Torre del Oro, whilst the Reales Alcazares is an eclectic combination of Christian-Mudejar architecture, with its high, fortified walls and verdant tropical gardens. The old Jewish quarter of Santa Cruz is a maze of white alleyways and quaint squares dotted with orange trees. Seville’s Renaissance and Baroque buildings date back to the period following the Christian Reconquest of 1492, when the city was granted a trading monopoly with the New World.

Seville is a city alive and buzzing with activity, frequently active with fiestas such as the Feria de Abril and the Andalucian art form of Flamenco, which combines song, guitar, percussion and, of course, dance.

Although many visitors spend the majority of their time in Seville, the charm and appeal of Andalucia permeates far from this lively city. Beyond the enchanting town of Ronda, perched on a cliff beside a yawning gorge, lie unspoiled “white villages” such as Grazalema surrounded by cork forests and dramatic mountains. Or a little further a field are the incomparable beaches of the Atlantic coast of Cadiz, Tarifa which is the wind surf capital of Europe or Bolonia where Roman ruins watch over a horse shoe bay of perfect sand. Another fascinating excursion, which has recently become feasible thanks to the new high speed ferry from Tarifa , is a day in Tangiers, one of the most fascinating cities in Morocco, with its souks, Kasbah and country people wearing traditional dress.

Andalucia also has one of the most famed coastlines throughout Europe. Marbella is the sophisticated hub of the coast, with its enchanting historic centre swathed in bougainvillea, luxury boutiques and shops, restaurants offering everything from caviar to grilled sardines, quiet bars and throbbing discos where beautiful people from every country imaginable celebrate until late, late, late. The finest beaches lie west of Marbella past Estepona and towards Gibraltar and the privileged oasis of Sotogrande. The numerous café-lined marinas along the coast, the finest of them all, Puerto Banus, are filled with some of the most spectacular yachts in the whole of the Mediterranean.

Sanctuary Villas & Apartments have two luxury villas in the Spanish region of Andalucia, luxury villa Altagracia and luxury villa Sancha. Altagracia is an imposing, elegant villa set in beautifully tended gardens in the exclusive resort of Sotogrande just 5 minutes from the beach clubs, bars and restaurants of this region. This villa accommodates 12 adults and 4 children and is an ideal base for a luxury villa vacation with family, due to its extensive gardens, large 15m swimming pool and exclusive location. Luxury villa Sancha is also an ideal venue for families located near Ronda, a picturesque white washed cortijo which lies in its own 7 acres of gardens with large swimming pool.
