Spain a treasure-trove of arts and culture brimming with fabulous flamenco, music, history, painting, architecture, literature, cinema, sport, and fiestas! The exuberance of the Spaniards and the glorious predictability of the summer weather ensure every traveller is seduced with a rich and rousing experience and each Spanish villa vacation lives long in the memory. One of the most dynamic countries in Europe, Spain is an ideal base for a luxury villa vacation, drenched in the historical pageantry of empire and conquistadors, the artistic legacy of Goya, Velázquez, Picasso and Dalí, and the romance of Don Quijote.

Southern Spain is a land comprised of varying cultures and terrains. The land stretches from the Sierra Morena Mountains in the north to the Sierra Nevada’s in the south, which roll into the crystal blue Mediterranean Sea, with its sheltered coves and teeming fauna. Most of this southern portion fits within the Andalucian countryside, the name originating from the Moors’ conquest over the Vandals. Two of Spain’s most famous monuments are located within this region: the mosque of Cordoba and the remarkable Alhambra in Granada.

Andalucia is the place to experience the pomp and crackle of the Spanish fiesta, where dusty tapas bars and old palaces look unassuming but enchant travellers. With 3,000 hours of sun per year, many miles of golden sand beaches and beautiful natural ports, the region became a safe refuge for Phoenician navigators, thousands of years before Christ, and is today a haven for sun worshippers and golf fanatics alike making it an ideal country to enjoy a luxury villa vacation, offering something for all the family. Inland, the pretty pablos blancos cling tenaciously to steep hillsides. From a distance, the villages look like a splash of white paint on the hillside, this is the ‘real Spain’, where goats must be tended, olives picked and early loaves baked. The surrounding countryside offers excellent hiking opportunities, horse riding, bird watching and fishing.

Due to their geographical position in the middle of the Mediterranean, the Balearic Islands benefited from Phoenician, Greek, Carthaginian, Roman, Moorish and Turkish influences. In the 13th century Catalan settlers brought their language and culture to the islands. This part of Spain can satisfy everyone’s tastes: from sun-seekers enjoying the wealth of sandy beaches and the sunny days, to jet-setters, who prefer luxurious, discreet hideaways in the hills. The largest island is Mallorca whose massive Gothic Cathedral stands near the waterfront of Palma, the capital. It is the most culturally rich of the Balearics with galleries and museums.

Sanctuary has a range of luxury villas in Spain, each ideal for a family villa vacation, with large swimming pools and well tended sizeable manicured gardens. Luxury villa Son Sant Andreu is located on the ever popular island of Mallorca, a mere 5 minute drive from the chic historic town of Pollensa. Luxury Spanish villas Altagracia and Villa Sancha are also located within prestigious and picturesque regions of Spain in Andalucia in Sotogrande and Ronda respectively. All Sanctuary’s Spanish villas offer the utmost of contemporary and luxury villa living and are delivered with a level of service ethic which ensures the most lavish of luxury villa vacations.
